Ghostnail was formed in the winter of 2004/2005 by David, Erica and Mattias, following the dissolving of their former band Hurt/Mrs. Whore. It started with just a couple of songs written and recorded by David and Erica in David's living-room. The songs led to the band being offered a gig at Village, Västerås. With Erica now on vocals as opposed to playing drums in the earlier band, David on guitar and Mattias on bass, a choice was made to try to find people to be able to have a full live-band. Mattias contacted Linda from his old band Mourning Star, and asked her to play keyboards. Mattias also had an old friend who he knew was a killer drummer, and so Oskar was asked to play drums. Standing in to complete the band's very first live-lineup was Carnal Grief's amazing guitarist Johan Lindgren.

The band had a positive response to the first gig, and Linda and Oskar were now in the band as permanent members. Ghostnail recorded their first demo cd "Do you believe?" containing five songs, including the first couple of songs recorded. This too was recorded in David's home. Mourning Star guitarist Elise also joined the band, and Ghostnail went on to do several live performances, earning a reputation as being a great live-act.

When Elise moved back home to Norway, Andy was asked to join the band on guitar.
In January 2008, Linda decided to leave the band as she was not feeling any drive to continue.
In this moment, Ghostnail are working on getting their second demo finished and released to the public as well as finding a new talent for the keyboards.
